How many key products should you have in your skin care routine?
It's so much information we get every day, so many different moisturizers, serums, cleansers, that we understand you get confused.
Every influencer on Instagram is talking about a different skincare routine or about a new treatment and I'm pretty sure you are not the only a bit unsure of what to use, of what is essential.
Thinking about this, I decided to ask our skincare expert Siiri, what are the essentials products, a basic and safe skincare routine that everyone should have.
Morning and evening skincare routine
The first thing Siiri said was: "During my skincare consultation, I always advise my clients to have proper AM (morning) and PM (evening) skincare routine."
Every time we have a client for the first time at OSLO, they will go through a deep consultation where the skincare expert will ask about your skincare routine at the moment (to tailor from that) but the expert will also ask about your food habits, water intake and... if you have a morning and an evening routine.
Even with a compact skincare routine, you must have the habit to cleanse in the morning and in the evening. And you should follow these 3 simple steps, they will have a huge impact on the appearance of your skin because what is more important to create from day one is consistency, it doesn't matter that you just have 3 steps to follow, you have to do them every day.
Morning skincare routine
Step 1: In the morning cleanse your skin with a cleansing gel, milk or lotion according to your skin type.
Step 2: Get serum(s) to fix your specific skin concerns as they have much smaller molecular size than your moisturizer and active ingredients in them can penetrate deep into living layer of the skin called dermis.
At OSLO, we work with Image Skincare, Environ and Skingredients. Let's say your main concerns are anti-ageing and pigmentation, then I would recommend using Environ Vita-Peptide C-Quence Serum mixed with Defence Creme, Image VITAL C Hydrating Anti-aging serum or Skingredients Skin Veg Pre Serum and Skin Protein- Vitamin A+C Serum. To get results with the amazing skincare brands we work with it is best to talk to our skin experts at OSLO.
Step 3: "SPF moisturiser goes on lastly to protect your skin from UVA/UVB rays that cause break down of collagen, damage the skin and can cause skin cancer", says Siiri.
Evening Skincare routine
Step 1: "In the evening you should double cleanse your skin to make sure all days makeup and debris have been removed," says Siiri. You can use the same cleanser in the morning and evening or you can have two cleansers, one that is your general cleanser and the other as treatment cleanser. For example: if you have oily, blemish-prone skin you could use Image Ormedic balancing cleanser as your first cleanser to remove your makeup followed by Environ Sebuwash Cleansing Gel to gently remove excess oil while maintaining the skin's natural moisture balance.
Step 2: You will use your serum again. It could be the same as in the morning or a different one. A serum with vitamin A is really important.
You can have one serum that you would use in the morning and evening or you could apply a couple of different ones, depending on your skin's needs. Vitamin A is the most important ingredient to have in your serum. Vitamin A helps to accomplish healthy-looking, beautiful skin. Vitamin A deficiency causes pigmentation, sun damage and wrinkles.
Step 3: Moisturiser to trap the moisture into the skin.
Moisturisers are designed to apply lastly to the skin on top of your serum to trap in the moisture. Moisturisers have bigger molecules and that is why they will sit on top layers of the epidermis to prevent water loss.
At OSLO, we work also with a brand called Advanced Nutrition Programme (ANP) that is a premium range of beauty supplements which supports healthy skin and helps enhance your overall well-being. You can combine topical and oral skincare to get targeted results. I would say your serum and moisturisers work outside in and ANP skin supplements work inside out. Serums work in a localised area where you have applied them but supplements work on all skin from top to toe. Also, a lot of clients care about the environment and the future of the planet.
ANP is an environmentally conscious company. They don't use plastic packaging and have started using more paper-based packaging that is 100% recyclable. They use vegetable inks for printing, capsules are made of vegan or fish gelatin and they don't use any synthetic colours in their products. Skin supplements can hugely improve your skin hydration level e.g. Skin Omega+ contains omega 3 and 6 to increase hydration and smoothness of the skin. talk to your OSLO skin expert before buying any Advanced Nutrition Programme products because some of the products might be not suitable while pregnant or while taking some medication
Start today with your 3 steps and you will see the difference in your skin really quick.
